Mountain Virtual Escape Project #3
The bighorn sheep must recognize when humans are "social distancing." We have never seen as many (and so frequently) during a visit, even lucky enough to discover a bighorn secluded hiding spot recently.
The NPS says there are about 400 sheep in the RMNP area, and many years of visits resulted in few sightings. Unfortunately, we didn't find the mature male rams again this time, but the herd added to the adventure. Almost hunted to extinction a few decades ago, it is a fantastic sight to see these animals prospering in and around Rocky Mountain National Park.
Continued best wishes to all during the COVID-19 lockdown. I hope these images are adding some virtual outdoor fun. Help others where possible and prayers to those facing the virus directly. Donation links to various quality organizations are on the site. Be well!
