Elk Envy... For Now

During this crisis year that is 2020, may we all be able to find a moment of rest, comfort, and contentment as this bull elk resting in alpine wildflowers.  This majestic bull with velvet antlers had a nice spot at 11,000 ft altitude near Medicine Bow Curve in Rocky Mountain National Park.

One of an estimated 3000 of the elk population in RMNP, this one perhaps had the best view in the park.  The bulls will begin to shed their velvet in August and prepare for the "rut" in the fall (an incredible time to witness as the bulls vie for those females).  This bull still looks a bit young, so he might want to enjoy his summer before likely losing a few battles in September!
